Butler County backs RISE road funding and incentives for Feldmeier Equipment expansion

The Butler County Board of Supervisors voted May 12 to endorse an Iowa DOT Immediate Opportunity RISE application and to support a state economic-incentive application from Feldmeier Equipment Inc., measures the board said are intended to secure a new manufacturing facility at Butler Logistics Park.
Under Resolution #28-2026, the county endorsed an application for state RISE funding to construct Industrial Park Road, which the resolution says is necessary to provide appropriate access and safety for the proposed facility. The county pledged a 20% local match for the project, agreed to accept and maintain the new road in the Secondary Road system, and authorized the chair to sign RISE application documents. The resolution also replaces an earlier resolution to correct the company name and number of jobs retained.
Resolution #29-2026 authorized support for Feldmeier Equipment Inc.'s application to the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Business Incentives for Growth Program. The resolution states Feldmeier intends to retain 36 existing full-time positions, provide comprehensive health benefits, and construct a new manufacturing facility in Butler Logistics Park. The board signaled intent to provide local incentives in the form of property tax rebates using TIF within the Butler County Logistics Park Urban Renewal Area and authorized the chair and county auditor to take further actions necessary to carry out the resolution.
The board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments to prepare the RISE grant application. Board members cited the immediate economic-development opportunity and the goal of retaining jobs as rationale for the county's financial participation and expedited pursuit of state funding.
