Mesa Public Schools superintendent celebrates students, confirms Aug. 6 return

Dr. Matt Strum, superintendent of Mesa Public Schools, delivered an end-of-year message from a kindergarten classroom at Lindbergh Elementary School, thanking students, families and staff and announcing that classes will resume on Aug. 6.

Strum said the district’s aim is to "know each student by name, serve them by strength and need, get them ready for college, career, and community," and described this year’s results as "outstanding." He spoke directly to graduates, offering congratulations: "Congratulations, Class of 2026."

Speaking from Lindbergh Elementary, Strum framed the classroom setting as a reminder of the district’s focus on early learning and daily care for students. "When your kids show up here at Mesa Public Schools you will have compassionate hands surrounding them every day," he said, adding that the district is "striving for excellence and helping your kids learn into their future."
