Jefferson County approves Evergy permit, deed transfers, travel and delegate appointment

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners approved a series of administrative items on Nov. 3 including a right-of-way permit for Evergy, multiple quitclaim deed transfers in Lakeshore Estates, travel requests for the Register of Deeds, and designation of the county’s KWORCC voting delegate.

Ben Domann, Public Works Director, presented the Evergy permit for a 0.25-mile distribution line running west along Hickory Point Road from the Osage and Seventh Street intersection at the southwest edge of the City of Winchester; Commissioner Doug Walbridge moved to approve the permit and Commissioner Richard Malm seconded. The board voted unanimously to approve the permit.

The board also approved a deed transferring Lots 69, 71, 80 and 82, Block S in Lakeshore Estates from the county to the Landbank and authorized the chair to sign deeds transferring several lots in Block G from the Landbank to Lakeshore Estates. Treasurer Doug Bond raised the forthcoming need for a county policy addressing rounding after the county's 'pennies' program ceases; that item was noted but not acted on at the meeting.

Commissioners approved travel requests from the Register of Deeds Office for Delia Heston to attend the Kansas Association of Counties and Northeast Kansas County Officials meetings. The board also moved to designate County Clerk Julie Dunkle as the county’s KWORCC voting delegate and Commissioner Richard Malm as a designated alternate; the chair was authorized to sign.
