Jefferson County commissioners adopt routine items, hear department updates and set site visit for new ambulance center

The board approved the March 16, 2026 minutes with a requested correction noting that Chairman Christy had questioned Assistant County Counselor Jonathan Ehrlich about the Emergency Power Resolution. The motion to approve the prior minutes was made by Commissioner David Christy, seconded by Commissioner Richard Malm, and recorded by the minutes as carried by unanimous consent. Vouchers were reviewed and approved by the board during the same portion of the meeting.
Janet Allen reported that valuation notices for property tax appeals were mailed and that the county will accept appeals through March 31; she stated there were 86 appeals so far this year compared with 113 at the same point last year. Public Works Director Ben Domann reported two purchases totaling $120,450 — a truck for $91,300 and a belly dump trailer for $29,150 — and said the department is preparing dust‑control work countywide. GIS Director Kirk Webb announced the launch of a new GIS Data Download site.
Commissioner Doug Walbridge moved to designate May as Motorcycle Awareness Month in Jefferson County; Commissioner Richard Malm seconded the motion and the board approved it by unanimous consent.
Community Development Director Stephan Metzger requested a 10‑minute executive session to discuss non‑elective personnel and recruitment and retention. The board recessed into executive session at 1:58 p.m.; the chair announced afterward that no binding action was taken. After the meeting, the commissioners planned to visit Perry to review the new ambulance center.
With no further business, the board adjourned and scheduled its next regular session for Monday, March 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
