Commission holds multiple executive sessions, approves quit-claim deed and issues CMB license

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners handled several procedural and governance items at its Jan. 12 meeting, including executive sessions, a quit claim deed authorization and a license approval.
Chair David Christy moved and the board approved recessing into executive sessions multiple times: initially for attorney-client privileged legal advice regarding potential litigation and interagency issues (with Ben Domann and James Tweed present), later for county policy matters with County Counselor Josh Ney and contractor attorney Tara Eberline, and again for nonelective personnel overtime issues at the request of Payroll Manager Katlyn Farrell. The minutes record that the board extended sessions as needed and that no binding action was taken during the closed sessions.
The board also approved a quit claim deed to transfer listed lots to the Land Bank and authorized Chair Christy to sign on the board’s behalf. In separate action the board approved issuance of a Cereal Malt Beverage license to MEP Concessions, LLC (Rock Creek Marina); Chair Christy moved to approve and sign, with Commissioner Richard Malm seconding, and the motion carried.
The meeting adjourned with the next regular session set for Jan. 26, 2026; the Jan. 19 meeting was canceled for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
