The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 15 tabled consideration of a conditional use permit for an RV and boat storage facility on the Brauer property after the Planning Commission recommended denial and a county resident objected.
Community Development Director Stephan Metzger presented CU2025-05 and said the Planning Commission returned recommendations of denial (first 2‑1, later 3‑1) and valid petitions opposing the project were filed. The commission’s primary concern was traffic on Wellman Road.
The board opened public comment. No one spoke in favor; Frances Koder spoke against the proposal, saying she wanted to preserve the area as farmland. Commissioner Doug Walbridge said he wanted a more professional drawing of the proposed site before the board considers it and moved to table the application; Commissioner Richard Malm seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Stephan Metzger said he will reach out to the applicant.
