Jefferson County approves sale of several Land Bank lots to private buyers

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, meeting Jan. 12, 2026, recessed as the Jefferson County Land Bank Board and approved several sales of county-owned lots to private bidders.
Commissioner Doug Walbridge moved to approve the sales and Commissioner Richard Malm seconded; the board voted unanimously in favor on each approved sale. Among the actions, Caitlin Mehdi purchased 14 lots across Lakeside Village and other subdivisions for $7,000 total ($500 per lot) and stated plans to build homes of approximately 1,500 square feet on each lot. William Hutting and Amy Wyman were approved to purchase Lot 62 in Lakewood Hills Unit I for $1,000. The board also approved the sale of seven lots to Steven and Kayla McLeod for $3,500 ($500 per lot) and two lots (470 and 471) to Charles and McKenna Freed for $2,000 ($1,000 per lot).
One item — a $500 bid from Jennifer Sherman for Lot 713 in Lakeside Village — was tabled for staff to contact the bidder before further action. After completing land-bank business, the board adjourned the Land Bank session and reconvened as the Jefferson County Commission.
The approvals were recorded in the meeting minutes with motions and seconding commissioners noted; the minutes show unanimous votes on the approved items. The transfers and any subsequent development will proceed under the standard land-bank and permitting processes for Jefferson County.
