Jefferson County commissioners approve salary changes, road vacation and routine business

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a package of routine business on Feb. 2, 2026, including salary adjustments for two appointed officials and a road vacation.

Commissioner Doug Walbridge moved to approve Resolution 2026-003, which sets the bi-weekly salary for Emergency Services Director James Tweed and Public Works Director Ben Domann at $3,846.15; Commissioner Richard Malm seconded the motion and it passed with all in favor. Payroll change forms for both positions were presented to the board prior to the vote.

The board also approved Resolution 2026-002 to vacate a portion of Henry Blumberg Road (182nd Street) beginning at Shermon Road and extending east 1,984.23 feet, as described in the county road records (1904 Book D, pages 290–291). Commissioner David Christy moved for approval and Commissioner Doug Walbridge seconded; the motion passed unanimously.

Other approved items included the Jan. 26, 2026 meeting minutes, review and approval of vouchers, two shared leave requests and one donated leave, and travel requests to send Melinda Pringle, Stephanie Cox and Beth Brown to Las Vegas May 4–8, 2026 for the All Hands-on Deck Grant and Jefferson County Drug Endangered Children Coalition meetings. Each of those motions passed by unanimous vote of the commissioners present.

The board held two brief executive sessions for attorney-client and legal-advice matters during the meeting and announced afterward that no binding action was taken in those sessions.

The board adjourned and scheduled its next regular meeting for Feb. 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
