Public Works Director Ben Domann told the board about planned Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) construction on Highway 92 between Ozawkie and Oskaloosa and upcoming Wellman Road work to replace a tube near 126th and 118th. Domann said signs are posted on Lecompton Road and that Old Jefferson Town signs would be installed this week. He also noted bids for new sprayers are forthcoming.
Domann requested purchase authority for shop equipment. Commissioner Doug Walbridge moved to approve a lift from NAPA for $33,095.69; Commissioner Richard Malm seconded the motion, and the board voted unanimously to approve the purchase. Walbridge later moved to approve a Genie Super Series AC Aerial Work Platform with a sliding mid-rail entry for $12,999.99; Malm seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The two approvals total $46,095.68. The minutes record that all motions related to the purchases passed with all commissioners voting in favor.
No amendments or roll-call dissent were recorded in the meeting minutes. The board also reviewed contractor and project signage and indicated Public Works would return with bid documents for additional equipment purchases for sprayers.
Looking ahead, the board scheduled a site tour of the county's jail expansion after the April 27 commission meeting.
