Council honors Patterson Charter School girls basketball team for undefeated season

Councilman Omar called the players "our young leaders" and praised their classroom and athletic achievements. He named coaches Deidre Watson and Rena Cooley and asked the team to come forward for a presentation. The council invited the players and coaches to the dais, promised individual citations and said it would provide team jackets; council staff requested the players' sizes and names by email to coordinate the gifts.
The recognition took place before the public-comment period and drew applause from council members and attendees. The council emphasized youth achievement and community pride as part of its closing remarks.
