The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners on March 9 proclaimed March 16–20, 2026 as Georgia Financial Professionals Week and declared March 2026 as National Social Work Month. Commissioners also presented a Certificate of Recognition to Fire Explorer Post 5900 for its Winterfest awards.
Chairman Jevin Jensen told the board the county would provide transit rides to precincts for the special election on March 10 and asked residents to call ahead to schedule pickup. Jensen also outlined county programming for the 250th U.S. Anniversary, which will run at multiple county locations from June 30 through July 3 and conclude with a concert and a drone show at the North Georgia Fairgrounds.
