County plans July courthouse meeting and Dunlap Broadside exhibit for Semiquincentennial

County Administrator Carrie Kipfer told Lincoln County Commissioners on May 5 that planning is underway for Semiquincentennial celebrations. She reported touring the Pownalborough Courthouse in Dresden and proposed holding the July 7 commissioners meeting there, followed by tours and a possible lawn party featuring local historical groups.
Administrator Kipfer said the county will host a page on its website listing celebration activities. She also noted that an original 1776 Dunlap Broadside version of the Declaration of Independence will be on display at Bigelow Labs in East Boothbay on July 24-25, 2026. Commissioners asked to forward ideas to the administrator as planning continues.
No formal actions or funding decisions for the celebrations were recorded at the May 5 meeting.
