Board approves $83,823.36 supplemental appropriation; holds and certifies closed meeting

The Northumberland County Board of Supervisors on April 30 approved a supplemental appropriation of $83,823.36 to line item 9103-7032 to cover interest accrued on the 2025 Series A & B debt service.
County Administrator Tadlock said Davenport had assisted the county in stabilizing the fund balance and that the appropriation covers interest that was not budgeted in FY26 because the debt was issued midyear. Supervisor Keith Harris moved the appropriation; Vice Chairman Chip Williams seconded. The motion carried 5-0 (Aye: James Long, James Brann, Chip Williams, Al Fisher, Keith Harris).
Later in the meeting the Board moved into a closed session under Virginia Code §2.2-3711(A)(1) to discuss prospective candidates for employment and other personnel matters. The Board reconvened to open session, and by roll call certified that only matters lawfully exempted under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act were discussed (Aye: Keith Harris, Al C. Fisher Jr., James M. Long, James W. Brann, Charles H. Williams).
Chairman Brann closed the meeting with an announcement of a ribbon cutting for the community park at the public library on May 9, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.; the Board then adjourned.
