Police hire, public works updates and community projects highlighted in Enoch council reports

During council and staff reports on May 6, Enoch officials shared personnel, operations and community-project updates.

Police Chief Jackson Ames said the department promoted a part-time officer, Nick Syrett, to fill a full-time vacancy; Syrett brings roughly eight years of law enforcement experience, including prior work in Bountiful and Cedar City. Chief Ames also described a wellness-in-service conference focused on responder mental health and physical risks.

Public Works Director Hayden White reported the well rig is up at the Anderson well, a water line on Half Mile Road is finished, cemetery expansion will begin next week and Highway 91 reconstruction work was pushed to August pending bids. Treasurer Ashley Horton said staff selected a local company to redesign the city website (one-time cost) and discussed IT-security awareness training for council.

City Manager Ryan Robinson described a proposed "Healing Garden" from Cindy Baldwin, shown as a 3D rendering and discussed potential city support for the project (labor vs. funding). Council members also reported committee activity: Rec Committee planted trees for Arbor Day; Council Member David Harris noted Water Conservancy District activity and Representative Maloy's $3.5 million request to support wastewater development; Council Member Jacob Miner said Iron County Care and Share approved tiny homes and he's forming an economic development committee.
