Enoch City adopted its tentative budget for the 2026'27 fiscal year at the May 6 council meeting and set a public hearing for May 20.
Treasurer Ashley Horton reviewed revenues and expenses across funds and identified larger adjustments in Streets and Roads, Building, Police, City Office and Drainage. Horton said the current tentative budget shows a $60,000 negative balance that staff plan to cover from savings; she noted that anticipated new business activity could reduce or eliminate that draw from reserves. Council discussed the police department's staffing plan; Horton said staff will try to fill the evidence/records need with a part-time position rather than hiring a full-time officer.
Mayor Jim Rushton and Council Member David Harris discussed the 10% city share of support for the new fire department and asked staff to clarify whether the 10% applies to the city's portion or the whole fire budget; City Manager Ryan Robinson said staff will confirm details with Cedar City and the fire department. Council Member Harris moved to adopt the tentative budget and set a public hearing on May 20; Council Member Debra Ley seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
