Shawnee reports sales‑tax gains and launches monthly Main Street shop & stroll

At the same meeting, Stacy Kramer Moore, director of Visit Shawnee, and tourism staff member Steven Peranda presented results from a downtown "Main Street shop and stroll" pilot event. They said 29 downtown stores and restaurants participated, roughly 300 passports were distributed, and organizers counted about 1,900–2,000 guest visits on Main Street and Bell Street. The pilot included an incubator area for small downtown businesses and a passport program with prizes totaling about $595 in gift cards and certificates. Organizers announced the event will run monthly beginning June 2.
Commissioners praised the turnout and encouraged local businesses to participate in future events.
