CCRPC approves six minor TIP amendments, adds $57,000 for Shelburne Safe Routes project

The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission approved six minor amendments to the region’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) at its May 20 meeting.
Christine Ford, CCRPC transportation staff, said four of the amendments are new Transportation Alternatives awards, one is a new project, and one adds funding to the River Road sidewalk project in Jericho. She told the board the Safe Routes to School allocation adds about $57,000 for sidewalk and crosswalk improvements in Shelburne. One amendment connects county projects to the federal Carbon Reduction Program; Ford said those funds are intended to reduce transportation‑sector carbon emissions and would pay for charging‑station infrastructure at VTrans maintenance facilities.
Board members asked whether the charging stations would be for public use or restricted to state vehicles. Ford said she believed the sites were for state fleet vehicles but that staff did not yet have a definitive answer and would follow up.
A motion to approve the proposed TIP amendments was made, seconded and approved by the voting MPO members present.
