Council authorizes RCO grant application for youth athletic field lighting; staff to budget match

The Enumclaw City Council on April 27 authorized Mayor Anthony Wright to submit a Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) youth athletic facilities grant application to fund relamping and new lighting for athletic fields.
Parks Director Aliyah Hibbs said the application requests $400,000 and that staff will combine that with $202,000 in already-budgeted impact fees to meet part of the 50% match requirement. "We already have budgeted impact fees, so we will leverage those impact fees and a match as part of the match requirement, and budget the additional during the 2027 budgeting process, for a total of $800,000," Hibbs said, noting the estimate includes a 15% contingency. She later clarified the match requirement is 50% and confirmed the city currently has roughly $202,000 available, leaving an estimated $198,000 to add in the 2027 budget.
Council moved, seconded and approved Resolution 18-74 by voice vote.
