Madison City Schools board members voted to approve the district’s April 2026 financial reports and several routine business items during their meeting.
A finance staff member told the board that the district’s PNC account held $6,615,532.67 at the end of April, with total bank and investment cash balances of $23,774,106.25 and a matching system balance of $24,694,923.11. “At the end of April, we had $6,615,532.67 in our PNC account,” the finance staff member said while asking the board to accept the reports. The finance committee reviewed checks over $1,000, including a $116,632.76 invoice to Samaritan Behavioral Health covering services for January through March.
The board also approved a resolution to amend appropriations so the district can spend awarded funds within budget categories; the presenter said the change was needed to allocate funds tied to a kindergarten boot camp grant so those expenditures can begin.
Under Item 7 the board considered three action requests from district staff. The board approved a junior ROTC overnight field trip to Peninsula, Ohio; the presenter said the JROTC program paid registration and lodging and that the district would provide transportation for about nine students. Board members also approved a three-year copier services contract recommendation. The technology supervisor led a competitive process with three bidders; the presenter recommended ProSource, citing local support and an expectation of longer-term savings despite a higher quarterly cap charge. Finally, the board approved amendments to the personnel agenda that included separations of service, summer school teacher appointments, limited and supplemental contracts, and the addition of summer custodians. The presenter said many summer hires will be funded by grants (for example, the boot camp grant) rather than the general fund.
Most votes were recorded verbally in the meeting with named members responding in the affirmative when asked. The meeting included a motion and vote to enter executive session to discuss personnel matters under BOE policy 0166 and a cited legal reference; that motion passed.
The board did not provide further fiscal detail beyond the April balances and the reviewed high-dollar invoice; staff said they are continuing reconciliation of outstanding checks and expect to complete reconciliations by month-end.
