At the May 19 meeting the city manager reported that two local geologic hazard abatement districts — the Klondike Canyon Landside Abatement District and the Abalone Cove Landside Abatement District — were selected for direct congressional spending and that the city would assist those districts with the application and disbursement steps. The manager described the amount as "a little over $1,100,000" and said the districts would need to complete further paperwork and administrative steps before funds are received.
The manager also flagged a one-day Southern California Edison utility-pole replacement project that will require helicopter staging at Grand View Park and may cause intermittent road closures on Monte Malaga; he urged residents to avoid the staging area on the scheduled day and provided timing guidance. He promoted a May 30 wildfire-resource expo at UCLA South Bay campus and a neighborhood watch and RPVTV survey.
On consent items the council adopted an updated master schedule of fees and a fully burdened hourly rate schedule for fiscal year 2026–27. Staff said the update is largely an application of the March 2026 CPI (3.4%) and recalculations of hourly rates tied to salary and benefit data; the fee schedule was estimated to increase revenue by about $121,000.
Council also completed multiple advisory-committee appointments and filled planning-commission vacancies. For the planning commission the council recorded Mark Crossman and Philip D’Souza as the top vote getters; other committees receiving appointments included the Emergency Preparedness Committee, Civic Center Advisory Committee, Finance Advisory Committee and Traffic Safety Committee; names were recorded during the meeting and will be finalized in the city’s appointment documentation.
