Fire Chief Nye told trustees mechanical CPR devices maintain consistent chest compressions during transport and prolonged resuscitation and allow personnel to focus on airway, medication and defibrillation. The purchase includes five LUCAS units, power supplies, battery recharge stations and disposable suction cup kits. The vendor offered a $15,000 trade-in credit for five older units and shipping totaled $1,660.45. After credits and shipping, the requested release of funds totaled $99,382.20 and will be charged to the Fire Department’s 2026 budget line #97125; the Board approved the release subject to legal review of the contract.
What’s next: Legal counsel will review and, if terms are acceptable, the department will complete the purchase and assign each LUCAS unit to frontline ALS apparatus.
