The Prosper ISD board on May 18 completed its reorganization and several personnel motions, including contested votes for leadership positions.
Trustees voted 4–3 to approve Kelly Cavender as board president; the motion was moved, seconded and carried with the board announcing the roll call tally. In the subsequent vote for vice president, the board approved Garrett Linker 4–3. The board then approved David Webb as secretary unanimously, 7–0.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda (7–0) and later moved and approved hiring contract personnel as presented by administration (16b, 7–0). As reported in public session, the board also approved Impact Education Specialist to perform the superintendent search (16c) by a 7–0 vote.
Trustees styled some of the leadership votes as close decisions; members who opposed those motions remained recorded on the public vote tally. The board President declared that going forward trustees intend to work together on the district’s priorities.
