Rawlins County EMS to buy AutoPulse after KRAF grant; commissioners authorize interim payment

Megan Rippe, Rawlins County EMS director, told the board May 1 that a KRAF grant was awarded to purchase an AutoPulse device and that run reports for February through April were presented. Rippe said the EMT class has finished and she plans to hold an EMR class.
Rippe said the Medical Director updated the yearly protocols; Rippe requested and the commissioners signed an acknowledgement for inclusion in the county policy book. Rippe said she will finish the policy book and return with the updated documents.
On the AutoPulse purchase, Commissioner Alan A. Solko moved to authorize Rippe to use $5,510.95 toward the AutoPulse grant; Commissioner Lincoln Pochop seconded and the motion carried. Solko then amended the authorization to approve paying $22,043.80 for the AutoPulse now and obtaining reimbursement later from the KRAF grant; Pochop seconded and the motion carried.
Rippe’s presentation also covered staffing and training plans; she said she did not see issues with Drivers for EMS after reviewing information provided by the Medical Director and County Attorney Christopher A. Rohr.
The board’s action authorizes Rippe to complete the purchase and to incorporate the updated protocols into the county policy book. The transcript does not record the vendor or delivery timeline for the AutoPulse.
