Placer County auditors report several open whistleblower cases including retaliation and sexual-harassment allegations

The Auditor-Controller’s Office presented the Whistleblower Program activity for July–Dec. 2025, listing open cases categorized as retaliation, safety concerns, compliance, sexual harassment and other. Staff said some mandated audits were added and that the TOT audit is on hold.
The Auditor-Controller’s Office presented the Whistleblower Program activity report for the period July 1–Dec. 31, 2025 to the Audit Committee on Jan. 13, 2026.
Staff listed open whistleblower cases by identifier and allegation type: IL-25-21 (retaliation); IL-25-22 (safety concerns); IL-25-23 (compliance with laws, rules and regulations); IL-25-24 (safety concerns); IL-26-1 (sexual harassment); and IL-26-2 (other). The presentation was delivered as an informational update to the committee; no public commenters spoke during the meeting.
Managing Accountant-Auditor Andrew Pope also reported that unforeseen mandated audits tied to Department Head changes were added to the 2025–26 audit plan, and that those additions have modestly affected the audit schedule. He said the Transient Occupancy Tax audit remains on hold pending completion of contractor-led audits and outreach by Revenue Services.
The committee received the report. Follow-up work and audit progress were expected to be reported at future meetings.
