Tulare council confirms appointments to Committee on Aging and Mosquito Abatement board

The Tulare City Council on May 19 confirmed two routine appointments.
Committee on Aging: Staff explained a vacancy existed after Ralph Cantu was appointed to the planning commission and resigned his committee seat. Councilmember Sayers recommended Cecilia Franco for the Committee on Aging; the council moved, seconded and confirmed the appointment by voice vote.
Mosquito Abatement District: Staff recommended aligning the trustee term with the Health and Safety Code. Craig Smith, the current trustee, indicated he wished to continue. Council moved and seconded the resolution to appoint Craig Smith to the Tulare Mosquito Abatement District board for the term effective July 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2029; the appointment was confirmed by voice vote.
Both matters were handled on the consent/general-business calendar with no public testimony recorded at the meeting.
