The City Council on May 19 approved an ordinance (RZ25-8) rezoning 5800 Mitchell Road from RE1 to RD18 to allow the property to be subdivided into two single-family lots.
Planning staff presented maps and a proposed site plan showing two compliant RD18 lots with driveway access to Mitchell Road and recommended approval with conditions: a maximum of two residential lots created from the combined parcels and language requiring the property owner to ensure compliance with planned city projects and dedication of any required rights-of-way or easements in recorded plats.
Applicant representative Chris Protos said the rezoning aligns with surrounding RD27/18 parcels and that the owner supports the staff recommendations. No public opposition registered during the meeting. Councilmember Melissa Mueller moved approval; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
Staff will attach the conditions to the ordinance and review required plat and permit applications to ensure compliance with right-of-way dedication and driveway placement rules.
