District previews multi-year facilities maintenance plan, summer projects and FY28 loan timeline

Finance and operations staff outlined a rolling facilities maintenance plan with summer work (LED lighting, roofs, HVAC, gym floors, restroom upgrades and parking improvements); staff will present financial details in June and seek a fiscal 2028 loan approval in July.
The director of finance and operations previewed a multi-year long-term facilities maintenance program and a slate of near-term projects to be completed this summer and into 2027.
Staff said the board will receive financial details on the maintenance plan at the June meeting and that the district will seek approval of a fiscal 2028 loan for the facilities maintenance program in July. "This will be the first in a series of probably three different public agenda items," the director said.
Planned summer work includes completing LED lighting across the district, roof replacements (77,000 square feet across multiple campuses), commissioning long-idle rooftop units at Southview, replacing a field-house floor, restroom and locker-room upgrades (including converting gang showers to individual stalls), interior-surface renovations at multiple elementary sites and targeted parking/traffic-flow changes at the Community Center to improve safety and drop-off operations.
Woodard noted several specific projects: commissioning destratification fans that were previously unoperational, a multi-phase Southview plan for rooftop units and roofing, and accessibility and safety modifications at the Community Center parking loops. He also said several projects came in below budgeted estimates and that the district is sequencing work to minimize disruption.
Board members asked about timing and safety trade-offs for postponing some site work (for example, a Green Valley parking/erosion project) and were assured staff will coordinate with city planners and return with more detailed sequencing and risk assessments. No board approvals were requested at the work session; staff will return with levy/loan numbers and project bids in upcoming meetings.
