Board approves personnel changes, payroll claims and tax-suspension requests

At its May 12 meeting the Des Moines County Board of Supervisors approved several personnel, payroll and administrative items.
The county attorney's office reported that Assistant County Attorney Terry Cortucci had left for another county office and that Ben Toll is scheduled to join the county on June 1. The board received a resignation letter and thanked the departing employee for service.
The board approved hiring Josh Hellman as system administrator in the IT department, effective May 5, with an annual salary of $67,163. The board also approved pay increases for Deputy Lane Blutnegger (from $56,101.02 to $58,815.59 effective May 5), anniversary step increases for correctional officers Addison Clayton and Bryce Wade, and a part‑time kitchen cook's hourly increase from $16.80 to $17.10 effective May 29.
A treasurer's request to suspend real-estate taxes, noted as approved by DHS, was recommended and the board approved it. Separately, payroll reimbursement claims totaling $873.98 were approved.
Each item was moved and seconded; roll-call votes recorded affirmative responses from members present. No extended debate occurred on these routine approvals.
