Manheim Township School District honors retirees; superintendent reports enrollment of 5,970 in-district students

"It is my pleasure to recognize these valued employees who, as a group, have contributed 377 of service to Manheim Township School District," Dr. Hudak said as he presented the retiring employees and shared short memories and plans they had discussed at a pre-meeting reception. The superintendent and presenters named several retirees and their roles, including Patty Ballard (high school receptionist), Jason Lyons (technology and engineering teacher), Rita Crozier (food service site leader), Renee Engel (reading specialist), Marjorie Kean (kindergarten teacher), Nancy Klein (library aide), and others.
In his superintendent's report, Dr. Hudak provided district data and highlighted programs. "So, our total enrollment in the buildings here in Manheim Township is 5,970 students," he said, and added that the total including outplaced students is 6,026 and there was one homebound student as of May 19. He described classroom projects such as third-grade wax museums, a unified track meet pairing students with disabilities with high school buddies, and an after-school program that partnered students with professional musicians to write and record music videos.
Student representatives Joel Francis and Shreya Segal gave a final report for the school year, noting events including prom (463 attendees), the district art show and quiz-bowl advancement to nationals. Graduation was announced for June 4 at Calvary Church.
