Board approves routine actions, adopts resolution and upholds an expulsion; several personnel appointments confirmed

A motion by Board Member Israel Fuentes, seconded by Board Member Frank Ibarra, approved action items 7.1 through 7.67 with the exception of item 7.4; the motion carried on a 6-0 vote. Board President Flores announced the motion carried.
Item 7.4 was considered separately. Board Member Pat Harrow moved and Board Member Flores seconded approval of action item 7.4 (a resolution discussed at the meeting); the board approved the resolution on a 6-0 vote after brief commentary from Harrow praising the level of detail in the document.
After a closed-session discussion, the board returned to public session and on a motion by Pat Harrow, seconded by Dan Flores, upheld an expulsion order for one student as presented; the motion carried on a 6-0 vote. The student is new to the district and does not have a district ID number.
The board also approved closed-session personnel items by recorded votes (6-0): the appointment of Sheldon Perez as assistant principal (high school), the appointment of Wendy McClum as assistant principal (adult and alternative education), and the appointment of Janine Carrasco as principal of Crestmore Elementary School.
Board reports and staff updates followed those votes; the meeting then adjourned into closed session for additional items.
