The Calabasas Planning Commission on May 21 approved its May 7 meeting minutes despite objections from at least one commissioner who said the minutes omitted substantive discussion and important context.
Commissioner (S1) moved to approve the minutes but told the commission "there's almost no indication" of the lengthy discussion that led to a 2‑2 vote on a capital-improvements recommendation and asked whether staff or the city council had reviewed the meeting video. Staff (Staff member (S3)) replied that council members receive weekly reports from the director and can access the Granicus meeting video for full context; staff said action minutes by practice do not paraphrase every comment from a long meeting.
Commissioner (S2) said watching the Granicus recording is the only way to capture the meeting’s nuance and warned that summarized minutes could misrepresent differing perspectives. Staff confirmed that the technical appendix and the recording are the fuller sources should commissioners or council members want more detail.
The minutes were approved (one abstention was recorded). A separate announcement during the meeting: Commissioner (S1) said Measure K had passed "with a 63 per, percent plus majority" of Calabasas voters and reminded residents to return ballots for the June 2 primary.
The meeting proceeded to a public hearing on a site-plan review for 26197 Attamore Road; commissioners later approved that item after a split vote.
