Council approves sick-leave advances, ACO payout and interim police chief differential

The Glocester Town Council on May 21 approved several personnel measures including two sick-leave advances, an animal-control compensation payout and a salary differential for the acting police chief.
Council approved a 30-day future sick-leave advance for a DPW employee (Christopher Leonard) while he recovers from surgery and a separate 30-day advance for finance department employee Kathy Lamontagne, both to be processed under the clerk’s collective-bargaining and personnel policies.
The council also authorized a compensation-time payout for Animal Control Officer Jennifer Grundy for 50 hours at $26.45 per hour, for a total payout of $1,322.50, with funds coming from the FY2026 budget line for animal-control staffing.
Finally, the council ratified a biweekly salary differential of $892.52 to be paid to Captain Jeffrey Jenison while he performs duties as acting police chief, effective immediately and continuing until the council decides otherwise.
The motions for each item were seconded and passed by voice vote.
