Committee members agreed to add a discussion about the ordinance that establishes city boards and commissions to the June and August agendas so new members can hear council expectations. The Chair said the city council is reviewing boards and commissions in early June and recommended an August orientation and election schedule for officer positions so newly appointed members can participate.
Members also agreed to recover and circulate earlier plans of work tied to council strategic goals so the committee can report measurable progress; staff said she will search for and distribute prior plans of work to aid June subcommittee discussions.
The event subcommittee recapped Gateway to the Globe, reporting an estimated attendance of 2,200–2,700 this year versus nearly 4,000 in a previous year; members attributed a decline to weather and layout choices and proposed moving next year’s date to April 3 to avoid spring‑break conflicts. Lessons cited included clearer signage and vendor placement, improved quality control on event graphics and stronger pre‑event checks.
