Augusta moves summer concerts while Augusta Commons gets electrical rewiring

Director Williams of Parks and Recreation reported that Augusta Commons is scheduled for an electrical overhaul that will require a temporary relocation of the city’s Candlelight Music series. The department moved the series to the Augusta Exchange Club Fairgrounds, with the first relocated concert scheduled for Sunday, June 7.
Central Services (Mr. Green) told commissioners the construction contract was on the mayor’s desk and a preconstruction conference is scheduled for May 26. Staff estimated the electrical upgrade would take roughly 2½–3 months to complete and said the fairgrounds partnership will not cost the city a venue fee. Staff also said they will assess operational costs (generators or other temporary equipment) and report any budget impacts to commissioners.
