Waterford board appoints Gary Allison as township clerk through 2028

The Waterford Township Board voted April 13 to appoint Gary Allison as Township Clerk effective May 1, 2026, at noon, to complete the current term through Nov. 20, 2028.
Supervisor Anthony Bartolotta summarized the hiring process used to fill the vacancy: 21 applicants, 17 interviewed, a three-person interview committee conducted multiple rounds of interviews and scenario testing and recommended the candidate judged to have Township experience, election familiarity and familiarity with local systems. The Supervisor said the selected candidate demonstrated organizational skills, familiarity with township operations and the ability to lead the Clerk’s department during an election cycle.
Trustee Sam Harris moved to table the appointment for further policy discussion but the motion failed for lack of a second. The Board then voted to appoint Gary Allison; the roll call showed Yeas: Bartolotta, Thomas, Gilbert, Hauswirth, Wall; Nay: Harris. The appointment will take effect May 1 and allow the Clerk's office to prepare for upcoming elections and to administer Clerk responsibilities through the end of the current term.
