Students and parents ask Corte Madera to explore a bike park; commission asks for a formal proposal

Will Webb, a Hall Middle School student, described strong school-based mountain-bike participation and said a purpose-built bike park would help develop skills and serve as a community hub. "A bike park would be an invaluable asset for all of our youth programs," Webb said, citing club and team membership numbers and noting a junior rider who recently placed fifth in a World Junior Cup race.
Other riders and parents reinforced the request, and a parent organizer (addressed by the chair as Rob) said more than 300 petition signatures support exploring the idea. Speakers offered to help fundraise, volunteer and coordinate with local teams and coaches.
Commissioners responded positively and asked staff to follow up. Staff and commissioners suggested the bike advocates return with a more detailed proposal including potential locations, construction options and funding strategies; commissioners also recommended coordinating with Larkspur Parks & Rec to learn from nearby implementations. No formal vote was taken on a project; the commission agreed to place a follow-up item on a future agenda once staff and the advocates assemble more details.
