Board reappoints three to Agricultural Land Preservation Board; public comments flag outdoor recreation ranking and removed traffic signal

The Armstrong County Board of Commissioners on May 7 reappointed three residents to the Armstrong County Agricultural Land Preservation Board and heard two public comments before adjourning.
On the recommendation of Holly Laird, District Manager of the Armstrong Conservation District, the board reappointed Troy Goldstrohm (of Kittanning), Terry Bowser (of Kittanning) and Marlene Kammerdiener (of Templeton) to three-year terms on the Agricultural Land Preservation Board, each term expiring Feb. 28, 2029. The motions were made by Commissioner Anthony G. Shea, seconded by Commissioner Pat Fabian, and carried unanimously.
In announcements, County Solicitor Tim Miller said Jim Antoniono, Esquire, was sworn in on this date as president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and noted he will be the first attorney to serve in this capacity, as stated to the board.
During the public-comment period, Cathy Strate of Experience Armstrong submitted a request to speak and provided an overview of the Outdoor Recreation State Report and Pennsylvania’s county ranking. Regina Liermann also submitted a request to participate and brought to the board’s attention the removal of a traffic light at First Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in Vandergrift, asking the board to note the issue.
There being no further business, the board adjourned at 9:39 a.m.; the next meeting is May 21, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
