Both were described as requested by the county executive and will return to the council for public hearing and action on June 16.
A staff member explained the legislative requirement for separate bills: "Under section 302 of the charter, projects that are above a certain threshold need to be individually authorized by legislation," the staff member said, describing why each capital project appears as an individual expedited bill.
The council did not debate project budgets or specifics during the introduction; details and public testimony are scheduled for the June 16 hearing. After introductions, the council went into recess until June 8 and adjourned for the Memorial Day holiday.
