Robins Planning and Zoning Commission holds work session on land-use and zoning updates; no formal actions taken

The Robins City Planning and Zoning Commission met in a work session at Robins City Hall on July 9, 2025. Vice Chairperson Dennis Trachta called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m., and roll call showed commissioners Dennis Trachta, Todd Roberts, Jay Goodin, AJ Hester and CJ McDonald present; Tim O’Hara and Matt Mitzel were absent. Planning and Zoning Administrator Vance McKinnon, City Engineer Kelli Scott and City Clerk Lisa Goodin attended in staff roles.
The commission approved the meeting agenda on a motion by Commissioner Todd Roberts, seconded by AJ Hester; the minutes of the May 14, 2025 meeting were approved on a motion by Jay Goodin, seconded by Todd Roberts. Both procedural motions were recorded as unanimous: “all votes were aye.”
During a work session portion of the meeting, members reviewed several related planning items. Staff presented and commissioners discussed a proposed update to the Future Land Use Map, potential rezoning of commercial parcels to better align with adopted zoning districts, an update to the Robins Zoning Map and several proposed amendments to Chapter 165 of the Robins Code of Ordinances. Commissioners and staff focused on mapping alignment and regulatory text changes; the minutes state these items were discussed for investigation and review but that no formal ordinances, motions to adopt changes, or votes on the substantive items occurred at this meeting.
Commissioners agreed to continue deliberations at an additional work session scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. The minutes record that members "elected to continue the discussion" at that meeting (no formal ordinance or vote on the substantive zoning changes was recorded). The meeting was adjourned at 7:14 p.m. on a motion by Jay Goodin, seconded by Todd Roberts; that vote was also recorded as unanimous.
