Taylor County commissioners approved a change order totaling $18,000 to remove a decommissioned aviation fuel tank at Ferol Foley Airport and transfer its remaining fuel to a new tank.
Malie Cox said the work is fully funded by an FDOT grant and that the old tank cannot be removed without meeting FDOT requirements; the project covers removal, required compliance work and fuel transfer to the newly installed tank. “This is fully funded by the FDOT grant. We have sufficient funding left in the grant to take care of this,” Cox said, adding that the new tank is operational.
The board approved the change order by motion and voice vote. Staff said the airport will resume regular fuel service during the upcoming high season once transfers are complete and compliance work is done.
