Okaloosa board approves consent items, confirms outside appointments and reports $512,451 in donations

The Okaloosa County School Board on April 13 approved a packet of consent and personnel items and made several external appointments, while the district reported more than $512,000 in foundation donations year to date.

The board approved the consent agenda (voice vote recorded as 4-0). Items on the packet included the out-of-field report for the 2025–26 school year, waivers of the OCA master contract requested by the Okaloosa STEM Academy and Okaloosa Technical College, employment separations, personnel recommendations, employee transfers, suspensions, and leaves without pay. Most items were presented by Miss Lindseay Maxi and moved and seconded by board members; recorded votes were unanimous where noted.

Board members also made appointments to external bodies. The board named representatives to the Okaloosa County Value Adjustment Board and accepted Mike Carroll as the business representative. Dr. White moved the slate and the motion passed 4-0. The board also confirmed that Mr. Bryant will continue as the board’s representative to the Florida School Boards Association (FSBA) Advocacy Committee and named Mr. Destin as the alternate; that motion also passed unanimously.

The district foundation reported year-to-date donations of $512,451.71, including two $10,000 gifts identified in the meeting as from "Lord and Son" and "Teleforce." Foundation events were announced, including a first-time Lego League STEM event and a financial-literacy session scheduled April 20 at Niceville High School from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

There was no public comment on these items. The board adjourned after completing the agenda.
