Hudsonville commissioners approve traffic closure, MDOT road contract, Chamber agreement and liquor license; roll-call results recorded

At its May 12 meeting the Hudsonville City Commission approved a set of administrative and project motions that the city manager and staff had recommended.
Temporary traffic control order 26-01: The commission approved the full closure of Harvey Street from School Avenue to Plaza Avenue on four Fridays in July (July 9, 16, 23 and 30) from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for downtown events. The motion passed by voice vote.
Joint employee agreement with the Hudsonville Area Chamber of Commerce: The commission authorized a standard 50/50 joint-employee agreement, formalizing the shared staffing arrangement (two employees and an intern this year). The motion passed on roll call with all members voting in favor.
40th Avenue resurfacing (MDOT contract acceptance): The commission authorized resolution 26-1832 and accepted contract number 26-535138 with the Michigan Department of Transportation to perform resurfacing on 40th Avenue from Grant Street to Chicago Drive. Staff said the project is grant-funded (staff cited $223,859) and NEPA approval is on file; work is expected late summer or fall with coordination around fair week. The roll-call vote was in favor.
Class C development-district liquor license for Rocknai LLC: The commission approved resolution 26-1833 recommending issuance of a Class C development-district liquor license for the applicant named in the transcript as Rocknai LLC. Commissioners described the proposed operation as restaurant-focused, intended primarily to allow beverage service with meals. The roll-call vote was in favor.
