Athletic director reports postseason schedules; board approves digital ticketing; WIA amends process

The Solon Springs athletic director told the board the high school’s spring teams are moving into postseason play: track regionals and sectionals are at Ashland with state June 6, softball entered the postseason seeded No. 1 with a double bye and regional play May 28 (sectionals June 2 and 4), and baseball regionals are May 28–June 3 with sectionals June 9 and the state tournament in mid-June.
Athletics governance updates followed. The athletic director reported that two amendments passed at the WIA annual meeting: the advisory council will return to an advisory role (removing a previous advisory-council-first approval step) and language that had restricted pre-season coaching contact for hires was removed, easing hiring in certain preseason-contact circumstances.
The board approved adopting Bound Pro as the district’s athletic management and ticketing platform after discussion about costs and implementation. Staff noted that Bound provides two readers and that digital ticketing must be available as an option for patrons; the vendor-reported fee structure includes a $0.90 service charge on tickets under $10 and an additional 5% on higher-priced tickets. Board members noted a learning curve and said they expect vendor onboarding and demonstrations to follow.
The athletic director praised student achievements and outlined next steps for postseason logistics and vendor onboarding.
