ETHS celebrates DECA winners and hosts AFSUSA exchange students

The board took time May 11 to recognize DECA teams and individuals who advanced at the state Illinois Career Development Conference and, in several cases, to national competition. Staff identified a number of students by name and noted top placements at state and national levels; DECA advisers and assistant advisers (including Mr. Patel and Mr. Manila) were thanked for their work preparing students.
Later in the meeting, Carol Muskin, a volunteer with AFSUSA, introduced five international exchange students who have attended ETHS this year. Each exchange student offered a brief account of their experience: Amelia (Poland) highlighted participation in theater productions; Elias (Italy) praised the availability of sports and extracurriculars; Nina (France) and Olivia (Spain) described relationships with teachers and a broad range of arts classes; and Noel (Sweden) noted opportunities to choose advanced classes like astrophysics and computer science. Muskin said the school receives a special medallion when it hosts a U.S. State Department scholarship student and thanked district staff and boosters for ongoing support.
The recognitions were delivered as part of the meeting's informational items and were met with applause from board members and attendees.
