Evanston board certifies student election, elects officers and adopts Pride Month resolution

"If it's a priority for you, it's a priority for me," Olan Wilson Thomas said after taking the oath.
The board elected Pat Savage Williams as president, Mon'nique Parsons as vice president and Pete Davis as secretary in roll-call votes, and appointed Kendra Williams as school treasurer. Several governance resolutions were approved by unanimous roll call, including routine signatory and depository designations, dates for review of closed session minutes, and meeting dates.
The board also approved fiscal and personnel items on the agenda: an abatement of the working cash fund, an updated consolidated district plan for fiscal 2027, and exempt staff salary increases for 2026-27. The board adopted a Pride Month resolution recognizing June 2026 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride Month and emphasizing support for included students and staff.
Consent items approved included minutes for the April 13 regular and closed sessions, the treasurer's report, bills, and the personnel report.
