Sanitation director introduced; Centertown Convenience Center expected to open within about 30 days

The Warren County sanitation department told commissioners the Centertown Convenience Center is nearing completion and could open within about 30 days.
"We got all the concrete poured. We got all the underground utilities in. The building set, HVAC's in," said Josh Roberts of the sanitation department, adding that the county is "waiting 25 days to be able to fully stripe it" and that he expected the facility to be open in the next month once the trash compactor arrives and the concrete cures.
Roberts also updated the commission on waste-reduction work: the county is consulting a firm to prepare an RFP for concrete pads and building erection, and a recycling grant the department pursued since 2024 (described in the meeting) is complete, with purchases including a two-ton truck, a hoist and three boxes.
Separately, commissioners were introduced to Russell Pedigo as the incoming solid-waste director; meeting remarks noted Pedigo’s expected mid-June start and that a confirmation would appear later in the agenda. The commission recorded the item and moved on to other business.
The sanitation report was accepted on the docket without further questions.
