Medford students in CTE programs recognized; electrical students to join IBW Local 103

The meeting opened with a "Mustang Moment" recognition of students from the district’s career and technical education (CTE) programs.
Director Fallon introduced graduating seniors Brody Sherblam and Cole McDermott from the electrical program; both have been in the program since sophomore year and have been selected to begin training with IBW Local Union 103, with schooling beginning in September and job placements expected by the following July. Fallon noted longtime teacher Mr. Cormio will retire at the end of June after nearly three decades of service and publicly thanked him.
Biotechnology student Jaden Jang was recognized as the district’s top-ranked CTE student this year and said he plans to attend UMass Boston Honors College to major in biology. Hannah Maru, a junior in the health assisting program, described completing CNA test components with near-perfect practical skills scores; staff said this was a repeat 100% skills pass rate for program participants.
Committee members praised the students and asked clarifying questions about program collaborations (for example, biotech students helping troubleshoot a biodiesel–fueled go-kart), and members invited the students to pose for a photo following their presentations.
