District presents summer curriculum work; plans public access to Atlas content

Regional School District 12 staff told the board that teams of teachers spent the summer revising and creating curriculum across the district and that some materials will be made public through the district’s Atlas curriculum warehouse.
Carrie Shore told the board 29 teachers representing K–12 contributed roughly 418 hours over the summer on 13 content areas. Work included revisions or new courses in middle-school robotics, engineering and TV studio; new 12th-grade English electives (professional communication; personal expression); a new honors biology; forensics; allied health; and K–5 art revisions.
Shore said the effort began with a June 18 kickoff led by Abby Waldron, a professional learning specialist from Ed Advance; the kickoff covered unit-plan components and demonstrated AI tools embedded in Atlas to speed revisions. Shore said she is finishing a review of the summer work and aims to restore public access to completed Atlas materials on a rolling basis.
Board members asked about the one-pager documents for elementary grades and whether unit plans beyond one-pagers would be made available; Shore said one-pagers will provide a parent-friendly overview while fuller unit plans will be published as they are completed, with an overall goal of broader completion by next summer.
The board thanked staff for the work and expressed optimism about momentum and teacher engagement going into the school year.
