Committee moves housekeeping zoning change to public hearing to fix outdated code links

Planning & Zoning staff told the committee Chapter 118 currently points to outdated zoning text; the committee voted unanimously to move a housekeeping ordinance that replaces those references with a link to the Planning & Zoning page to public hearing.
Planning & Zoning Director Steve Kleppin told the Ordinance Committee that the city code's Chapter 118 contains outdated zoning articles and that the preferred fix is to replace those in-code sections with a link to the Planning & Zoning webpage where current regulations, maps and permit forms are maintained.
"The zoning regulations even though we ... went through a pretty rigorous process 2 years ago to update them, we're still making changes," Mr. Kleppin said. Staff proposed an ordinance that would remove outdated article text from Chapter 118 and replace it with a direct link to the Planning & Zoning page where current regulations and maps are housed.
The committee voted to move the proposed change to public hearing at the next meeting. Staff said they will supply a direct web link in the next packet so members and the public can review the precise content proposed for reference.
