Cowan Community School asked the county highway department to provide paving labor while the district pays for materials. County highway staff said they can schedule the work within their paving calendar; commissioners approved an interlocal agreement conditioned on school payment for materials. The county attorney/staff indicated an interlocal agreement will set the parameters.
Separately, 911/EMA staff requested a small build-out in an underused foyer area to create two offices (one for a GIS specialist and one for the deputy director). The contractor who previously built out portions of the 911 center submitted a quote for approximately $43,000. Commissioners approved the work to be funded from the county's Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT) capital fund (project 12), noting existing carryover in that fund and directing staff to execute the agreement and schedule work.
Votes and next steps: Both measures passed unanimously at the meeting. County staff will draft and execute the interlocal with Cowan and finalize the contractor agreement for the 911 center build-out; the Auditor and Facilities staff will track expenses to the designated EDIT project account and report back to the board.
